Empisal as a Brand…
The importers of the brand in our SHOP are going to lengths to improve the opinion and experience of the public.
Unfortunately some years ago a licence for manufacture was sold and the products produced under this licence were of inferior quality. These Empisal products were sold by some big grocery and department stores for about R1000 per unit. Those incredibly basic machines came with no after sales service and no parts imported for repairs. If something went wrong or broke, there was no remedy. People were stuck with a “disposable machine”! This did major damage to a trusted brand name. A sad state of affairs for the Empisal that both my mother and mother-in-law used and trusted for numerous decades.
Since the cheapies disappeared, thankfully things have changed at Empisal International and a superior product with after sales backup is offered by Living Brands in Sandton.
No, you cannot buy from them directly. They are Wholesale Merchants.

Yesterday, Cindy Labuschaigne came in to test drive the EES10 featured in the Sew Fabulous Anytime Classroom. See her visit video on YouTube: Cindy’s Test Drive
Cindy ended up coming back in the afternoon to pick up the “Bigger Sister”, the Empisal EES50 sporting 210 stitch types, featuring 7 distinct Automatic Buttonholes and Monogrammed Lettering in 2 Fonts of 7mm high.

Chapter 4.5 – Always do a Test Stitch after threading or re-threading the machine.
It is much easier to fix a threading problem before stitching your expensive fabric and having to pick and possibly damage it.

We look at common things that can go wrong with solutions and the correct procedure when you are a novice.
Chapter 4.7 – Play with the machine while learning about the Settings
Learn about Stitch Type-, Stitch Width– and Stitch Length Settings in a relaxed mode.
Technique Focus
- Focus on threading your machine enough times so that it becomes second nature.
- Become aware of what can go wrong and how to fix it.
- Become familiar with the different setting possibilities of your machine.
- Practice and PLAY with your machine to know its capabilities.
- It is important to gain familiarity and comfort with your equipment.
- Study the user manual!
